In It Together

Avenue Living Communities owns and operates multi-family housing in almost half the health regions across the Prairies — 13 out of 23 total regions. One of the core beliefs that Avenue Living was founded on is “Duty of Care.” This enduring value guides us as we face the rapidly evolving challenge of coronavirus disease (COVID-19). Although there are no confirmed cases of COVID-19 among our residents or staff, we are assessing our strategies daily to safeguard our communities during this pandemic.

Our team is invested side-by-side with our resident and employee stakeholders. We know full well that in times of crisis especially, it is important to work together as a community, for only then can we resolve and come out of this situation stronger than we were yesterday – together.

Our duty to our residents is of utmost importance. We have always taken great pride in our clean and well-run buildings, and we know this is more important than ever right now. Our mission, as you may recall, during good times and bad, is to provide reliable, safe and comfortable accommodations that you can call home.

For our valued employees, all business-related travel by air both domestic and international is suspended until further notice. Considering Prime Minister Trudeau’s statements today concerning the Canadian border, I want to let you know about the emergency travel policy we initiated last week for our employees. All non-critical business-related travel by ground is suspended until further notice. Employees on personal travel who have departed prior to March 15 and who arrive back in Canada from outside the country are not to return to their office or work location but remain away from work for a period of 14 days as recommended by official government and health authorities.

Our channels of communication have always been and will always remain open. We will do everything we can to ensure the health and safety of everyone who lives with or works at Avenue Living.

Another one of our foundational principles is “In It Together.” As Canadians, we pull together during times of strife, and now, even with social distancing, we encourage everyone to consider their community, and to reach out to those in need. Some folks may need help stocking up on groceries. Others may just need a friendly voice on the phone, checking in. As we are all in this together, we encourage and value community engagement and acts of kindness.

We are proud to announce that a community task force will be put in place to ensure community engagement and resident well-being. We are in it with you. Contact us at COVID-19@avenueliving.ca with any questions or concerns. And we will keep providing updates on this rapidly evolving situation.
