Avenue Living Supports Community Food Banks

Avenue Living, owner/operator of rental housing across the Prairies, is donating a total of $100,000 to be distributed to various food banks in each of the company’s residential markets.

“We are committed to supporting our local communities, especially during the coronavirus pandemic,” said Louise Elsey, Chief Operations Officer, Avenue Living Communities. “We understand the significant impacts that the pandemic has put on both our residents, and the wider communities, so wanted to ensure that we were doing something proactive to support their needs.”

As the pandemic puts strains on families across the country, food banks are on the front lines, helping to ensure that vulnerable Canadians are still receiving vital food support during this difficult time. Monetary donations allow food banks to bulk purchase critical supplies.

“We want to ensure we are doing what we can. We know times are tough for everyone and we want to do our part. While Avenue Living strives to ensure its residents fulfill their basic needs of shelter, we are also a proud supporter of food as a basic need, hence this donation,” said Anthony Giuffre, Founder and CEO of Avenue Living.

The 17 food banks (or similar community organizations) receiving donations are located in Camrose, Edmonton, Wetaskiwin, Brooks, Calgary, Lethbridge, Medicine Hat, Bonnyville, Lloydminster, Red Deer, Prince Albert, Saskatoon, Moose Jaw, Regina, Swift Current, Winnipeg and Yorkton. Donations on behalf of our Sherwood Park residents will be directed to Edmonton.

This corporate social responsibility initiative is a continuation of the Avenue Giving Campaign, created to give back to the communities in which Avenue Living operates.

In addition, as a special appreciation toward front line workers, 500 units of available rental housing have been offered at a special price to the hard-working people across the Prairies. These are available to nurses, veterans, law enforcement and protection services workers, students and seniors. Just under 150 of these suites have been leased, with the majority of them rented at a 20 per cent discount.

Avenue Living Communities is part of Avenue Living Asset Management, a Calgary-based owner of real estate assets spanning residential, commercial and agricultural properties. Avenue Living offers a suite of investment offerings for retail, family offices and institutional capital partners, focusing on maximizing risk-adjusted returns with cash-flowing real estate assets.
