Avenue Living Completes $1 Million Renovation In Brooks
CALGARY, AB — After just five months of work, Avenue Living announced today that a million dollar renovation has been completed at the Queens Way Court Townhomes, located at 1 Queens Way East, Brooks, AB.
When Avenue Living acquired the run-down property in the fall of 2017, it had only a 40% occupancy rate, and the buildings were in a clearly visible state of disrepair.
“It was obvious why the occupancy rate was so low,” said Zora Roberts, Chief Operating Officer of Avenue Living Communities. “The Townhomes were in rough shape. The siding had giant holes in it, the trees surrounding the buildings were dying and the lawn was non-existent.”
The company started work on both the interior and the exterior of the Townhomes in April, 2018. Inside, the renovations include upgrades to the painting, flooring, counters and appliances, all completed by skilled tradespeople from Brooks, Lethbridge and Medicine Hat. Outside, the exterior balconies and stairs were completely rebuilt. A new lawn was planted, and an arborist from Brooks was consulted about the trees.
“Our company got its start in Brooks, with one small building in 2006, which we still have today,” said Roberts. “We strive to be a good neighbor and have a positive impact on the community.”
The community of Brooks has shown an overwhelmingly positive response to the renovations. Even before the upgrades were complete, the Queens Way Court Townhomes occupancy rate had increased to 80% by July 15.
